Seasons of Life
Lee Royal Jones Jr., was a Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Godfather, Cousin, Friend, Distinguished Public Servant, Honored Veteran, and so much more...
Lee was born on September 1, 1946, to the late Lee Royal Jones Sr. and Eva Jones. He transitioned peacefully as he entered Heaven on September 8, 2026, leaving behind a remarkable Legacy defined by service, courage, integrity, dedication, and Love of Family. He is now reunited with his Parents, his Brother Michael, and other beloved Family members in Eternity.
A Life of Service
Lee was a proud graduate of Armstrong High School, Class of 1966. Following high school, he answered another important call to service by serving in the United States Army and the Army Reserves. He was an Honorably Discharged Veteran, and the values he developed through his military service—discipline, loyalty, courage, and commitment—remained with him throughout his life.
Lee's professional career was a continuation of that same spirit of service. To him, protecting others was more than a job. It was a responsibility he took seriously and a calling he fulfilled with pride. He understood that public service required courage, vigilance, dependability, and an unwavering commitment to doing what was right. He devoted an extraordinary 45 years to Protective Services and Federal Law Enforcement, including his official final role as a CSO – Special Deputy under the U.S. Marshals Service, from which he retired. He previously also proudly served as Head of Security at the Federal Building, where he carried the responsibility of protecting people, property, and the federal workplace with professionalism and dedication. Lee retired in 2016 to enjoy a life of relaxation with his "Honey", and Family fun. His career touched many lives, and his legacy of service will be remembered by the colleagues, friends, and members of the community who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.
Lee's Spiritual enlightenment and service at the time of his Transitioning was with Mt. Gilead FGIM, under the Leadership of Bishop Daniel Robertson, Jr. where GOD had placed him and his Wife for 15 Years. Lee and Joan were devoted humble supporters there as they enjoyed hearing the Word of GOD being shared.
His Greatest Treasure: Family
Although Lee accomplished much through his military and professional careers, his greatest treasure was his Family.
He and his beloved Wife, Joan Ranae Jones, shared 51 years of building and enjoying their life together. Their relationship was one of love, partnership, commitment, and devotion. Lee affectionately called Joan “Honey,” and Joan lovingly called him “Dad.” Those special names reflected the love and closeness they shared throughout their life together. Lee was a Protector and Provider for his Wife and made sure that she never wanted for anything... He loved to make her smile and feel loved beyond measure.
Lee was a devoted Father to his sons, Maurice Royal Jones and Lee Royal Jones III, and his Wife Silvia. He took great pride in his children and the families that they built as well. He was also a loving Grandfather and Great-grandfather... His grandchildren respected, loved and cherished him... Montrell, Marquis, Monte, Martevyen and Christopher Davis, Marquez Jones, Eric Fowlkes, Angel, Sincere, and Deranae Jones, along with his beloved great-grandchildren... They all brought additional joy and meaning to his life.
Also left to miss and honor Lee's memory is his Aunt, Mary Canada; his Siblings, Clementine Carter (Alford), Joann Watts, and Larry Jones; his Goddaughters, Raquel Brown and Kiara Rodwell... Lee loved them all dearly, and they all loved him deeply.
He will also be lovingly remembered by his Wife Joan's Siblings, who loved him as though he were their true Brother, Nancy Pride, Jean Ford, Malissa Brown-Oulds (William), Roger (Cathy), Ronald (Denise), Stuart, and Jacqueline Brown, as well as numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, extended family members, Colleagues, Neighbors and Friends, Lee was blessed with friendships that stood the test of time, especially with his devoted friends, John Mason and Nathaniel Morton Jr.
Everyone in Lee's circle was an important part of his life, and the memories, fellowship, conversations, laughter, and experiences they shared with him will remain a treasured part of his Legacy.
