Johnette L. Lassiter

Johnette Renee Lassiter (Leak), affectionately known as Peanut/Nette/Slim, transitioned from this earthly life on Sunday February 15, 2026, to join loved ones in her heavenly home. She was born on August 20, 1956, to John Webber and DeLois Otey, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her only brother, Gregory Alonzo Leak, and her sisters, Wanda Menear and Bertha Young.

Johnette leaves to cherish her memory, two loving and devoted sons, Delford (his wife Casandra) and Dyriel; granddaughters Daela, Gianni, and Cassidy; grandsons Kamari and Aizen; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Johnette received her early education through Richmond Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Armstrong High School, Class of 1974. After high school, Johnette answered the call to serve her country and enlisted in the United States Army, where she served until 1980. While in the military, Johnette served abroad in Germany and earned an associate’s degree in accounting. After the Army, Johnette was employed by the United States Postal Service for 37 years and retired in 2023.

Johnette made every person she encountered feel seen, heard, and valued. The impact of her kindness will be felt for generations to come.
