Deacon Waverly A. Howell of Powhatan VA, departed this life on Thursday May 4, 2017. He is survived by his son William Howell, daughter Carla Smith son-in-law George Smith, Jr., granddaughters Sierra and Cameryn Smith and a host of family and friends, of them devoted Rev. Shirley Eggleston. Waverly graduated from Pocahontas High School in Powhatan. Co. In his day, Waverly was known as a top notch baseball player. He was retired from Virginia Power and He was married to the late Queen Esther Johnson of Richmond VA for over 60 years. He is preceded in death by his son Leo and his sister Anna Griffith. Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 10, 2017 at Mt Calvary Baptist Church 2020 Red Lane Rd Powhatan. VA 23139 at 2pm. Repass following service
